Schools Placed On Lockout After Shooting At Historic Estate In Capital District

A suspect is behind bars after a shooting in the Capital District that forced several schools into a lockout.

In Columbia County, crews in the town of Clermont were called to Woods Road on Friday, June 10, after reports of a shooting, according to New York State Police.

Arriving officers found one victim with injuries who was taken to a local hospital for treatment, police said. The extent of their injuries is unclear.

State troopers and Columbia County Sheriff’s deputies were able to find and arrest the alleged shooter a short time later.

Investigators are still working to determine what led up to the shooting.

The incident occurred at Clermont’s historic Southwood estate, located along the Hudson River, according to the Albany Times Union.

All schools in the area that were placed in lockout have been released, police said.
